Adoption Opportunities

Even after we decided to stop working with 3rd parties to facilitate adoptions, we still regularly get contacted by people who, sadly, have to rehome cats for various reasons. Sometimes these fur-babies have been taken in as permanent Catfe residents, but some kitties benefit more from a smaller, more regular home atmosphere, so we occasionally have adoption opportunities.

We want these babies to go to the right home, & not just the first to apply, so we work to the following processes:

  • Adoption cats have a settling in period, to allow us to assess their behaviour & whether they get on with other animals, or (if arriving in groups) if they can be homed together or separated.

  • We then open the adoption window - forms can be obtained by asking when visiting the Catfe.

  • We then review all of the applications & carry out a home visit - this requires a £10 non-refundable deposit to be paid.

  • The successful applicant can then pay the remaining adoption fee (£240) & arrange to collect their kitty from the Catfe.

The adoption fee covers:

  • Microchipping £30

  • 1st & 2nd Vaccinations £60 each

  • Neutering £90-£130 (if kittens are too young to be neutered, we will pay the cost of neutering to be carried out at Anton Vets when they are ready)

No, our maths isn’t as bad as you think, our adoption fee is less than the above costs, but our adoptions are about giving kitties a new home & not about making money.
